Upstream Oil & Gas

Oil and gas production now uses up to four barrels of water for every barrel recovered. This creates immense volumes to supply, treat, reuse, and manage across exploration and production operations.

Optimizing Water Management Across Upstream Oil & Gas Operations

For over 40 years, Aquatech has partnered with global oil and gas producers to deliver reliable water and wastewater treatment solutions. Our comprehensive water management approach offers sustainable upstream oil and gas water treatment solutions tailored to specific usage needs.

These solutions enhance safety, mitigate scheduling and cost uncertainties, boost project economics through CapEx and OpEx assessments, and seamlessly align community and regulatory standards.

Beneficial Reuse to Support Long-Term Production in the Permian Basin

Tightening disposal capacity, increasing regulatory scrutiny, and long-term production growth depends on a new approach to produced water treatment. Aquatech's treatment solutions enable produced water to be recycled for completions, enhanced operations, and other beneficial reuse applications, reducing reliance on freshwater sources while operators sustain production and extend the economic life of their assets.

Explore Produced Water Recovery

Lithium Recovery from Produced Water

Produced water is increasingly recognized as a valuable resource contaning extractable lithium and other critical minerals. By combining advanced resource recovery technologies with Aquatech's expertise in water treatment, oil and gas operators can evaluate opportunities to extract valuable resources while simultaneously managing their water challenges.

Decades of Oil & Gas Expertise

Saudi Aramco's Massive Zuluf Oil Field

One of the world's largest oilfields faced the challenge of securing a reliable source of injection water for enhanced oil recovery while managing high-TDS produced water. Aquatech addressed this need by delivering a large-scale integrated water treatment facility that recovers approximately 90% of produced water into high-quality injection water. The solution reduced freshwater demand, improved water reuse, and supported long-term field operations.

Oxy Direct Air Capture Facility, Stratos

Large-scale direct air capture operations required an efficient way to manage and reuse substantial process water volumes while keeping carbon capture costs under control. Aquatech designed and commissioned a high-capacity evaporation system that enables water recovery and process stream reuse, supporting the world's first commercial-scale Direct Air Capture facility and improving overall process sustainability.
