Potassium Fertilizer Production
Potassium is an essential nutrient for plant growth and crop productivity. As a key fertilizer component, high-purity potassium ensures robust food production worldwide. However, producing potassium fertilizer from potassium-rich brines and minerals poses complex wastewater treatment challenges.
Cutting-Edge Crystallization Technology for Creating High-Purity Muriate of Potash (MOP) Fertilizers
Potash production generates challenging wastewater high in salinity, potassium, and other dissolved impurities requiring proper treatment. Aquatech provides innovative brine treatment, evaporation, crystallization, and zero liquid (ZLD) solutions that integrate into new or existing plants for optimized, sustainable fertilizer production.
Aquatech optimizes the system configuration based on feed composition, product purity and crystal size requirements, available utilities, and other factors. Our tailored process solutions maximize potash yield and quality from your specific brine.

About Potassium Fertilizer Production
Potash production traditionally uses Draft Tube Baffle (DTB) Crystallizers to recover sodium chloride (NaCl), calcium chloride (CaCl2), and magnesium chloride (MgCl2) impurities and produce up to 99.5% pure levels of primary potash product (KCl).
Mine deposits, solution-mined deposits, and lake brines containing CaCl2 and/or MgCl2 are typically processed using flotation, evaporation, and crystallization systems to produce a MOP product of 95% KCl purity. The evaporation and crystallization system comprises forced circulation NaCl crystallizers and DTB potash crystallizers. The purge liquor from the NaCl crystallizer is processed by multi-stage DTB flashing crystallizers.
