Intrepid’s Wendover site, one of the largest potash producers in the U.S., generates lithium-rich brine as a byproduct of its ongoing potash operations. The project requires a lithium extraction and refining solution, integrated into established potash production, that meets strict environmental and product purity standards. Aquatech’s White Silver project will extract lithium directly from Intrepid’s existing industrial brine by-product stream and convert it into high-grade, battery-quality product.
Aquatech will own the full project lifecycle at White Silver Lithium, from process design and engineering through construction, commissioning and ongoing operations and maintenance. By reusing Intrepid’s existing mining reject and establishing a closed-loop brine reinjection process, Aquatech will provide an environmentally safe design that is both resilient and sustainable.
In collaboration with Intrepid Potash and Adionics, Aquatech has confirmed the viability of the full process flowsheet from extraction through to final crystallization. In 2025, Aquatech completed test work that successfully demonstrated lithium extraction rates exceeding 92% and the production of lithium carbonate with purity levels at or above 99.5%.
The project is driven by Aquatech’s PEARL™ full flow sheet process delivery solution. Adionics’ closed-loop direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology will deliver a high-purity lithium chloride product, followed by Aquatech’s conversion and crystallization technology to deliver battery-grade lithium carbonate.
An updated Technical Report Summary (“TRS”) by?Intrepid Potash has confirmed the long-term viability of the White Silver Lithium Project, which will recover 5,000 tons per year of battery-grade lithium carbonate.
White Silver will help to strengthen domestic critical mineral supply chains while setting new benchmarks for cost, sustainability, and reliability in U.S. lithium production. On completion, it will be the first project globally to deliver high-purity lithium at scale from an industrial brine by-product.
White Silver, a project company established by Aquatech, is developing a processing facility to deliver 5,000 tons per year of battery grade lithium carbonate from an industrial brine by-product.
