Challenge: | Producing high-quality lithium hydroxide from a high-temperature brine source at the world's first fully integrated geothermal power and lithium extraction facility. |
Solution: | Aquatech's process technology solution encompasses eluate conditioning through to lithium hydroxide production, harnessing the heat energy of the geothermal brine feedstock to drive down the total project cost. |
Result: | With Phase 1 of the project on schedule for completion by the end of 2027, this partnership will produce 27,000 tonnes of battery-grade lithium hydroxide monohydrate annually. |
Large-scale produciton of battery-grade lithium hydroxide at the world’s first fully integrated renewable power and lithium extraction facility.
Aquatech's purification and concentration solutions are engineered to use heat geothermal heat energy, driving thermal processes while minimizing the facility's energy consumption. This innovative process, the first of its kind, negates the need for evaporation ponds, clay leaching pits and hazardous landfill waste, optimizing CAPEX and OPEX across multiple process streams plants and reducing overall land impact.
On schedule to delivering Phase 1 by the end of 2027, this partnership will produce 27,000 tonnes of battery-grade lithium hydroxide monohydrate annually. That’s enough to power up battery production for approximately 415,000 standard-size electric vehicles.
