Industrial Water Sustainability Project by Aquatech Showcased at the U.S.-China Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade in Guangzhou

Signing ceremony during Economic & Trade Conference recognizes importance of project that will recycle coal mine waste water for industrial reuse and will not discharge any liquid waste to the environment

GUANGZHOU, CHINA, NOVEMBER 24, 2015 – Aquatech, a global leader in water purification technology for industrial and infrastructure markets, has been awarded a contract to provide a water treatment facility that includes wastewater recycle and zero liquid discharge technology for a coal-to-chemicals conversion project being developed by the Chinacoal Group, China’s second largest coal producer. This is the second such plant that has been awarded to Aquatech by Chinacoal at the same location in Ordos City, Inner Mongolia.

Aquatech will design, engineer, and supply the integrated water facility, and will supervise installation and commissioning. Aquatech will provide a fully integrated and automated system that it has developed specifically for the CTX market utilizing Aquatech’s proprietary and advanced AquaEZTM technology.

The plant, a model of water efficiency and sustainability, will recycle over 9.6 million liters per day of wastewater generated by a nearby coal mine and eliminate all wastewater discharge. The recycled water will be treated to a high purity level and reused in the process facility.

Representatives from Aquatech and Chinacoal Group convened in a signing ceremony held on November 22 during the 26th U.S.-China Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT) in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. The event was attended by The Honorable Penny Pritzker, the United States Secretary of Commerce.

Established in 1983, the JCCT is the primary forum for addressing bilateral trade and investment issues and promoting commercial opportunities between the United States and China. High-level plenary meetings are held annually and are co-chaired by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, the United States Trade Representative, and the Chinese Vice Premier in charge of trade and investment issues.

The Aquatech project further boosts China’s progress in addressing environmental impacts of industry. This project will not only enable Chinacoal to comply with statutory regulations but will also minimize the complex’s overall water footprint, which is an important consideration since CTX projects require substantial amounts of water and are normally located in dry, water stressed regions.
